Q. What is #BrooklynGives?
#BrooklynGives is Brooklyn’s only boroughwide giving event, created by Brooklyn Community Foundation in 2016 to drive support for Brooklyn nonprofits and encourage local donors to "Give Where You Live!"
Q. When is #BrooklynGives?
Donor Advised Fund holders at Brooklyn Community Foundation have a special early-donation window for #BrooklynGives 2019— from November 4-11, DAF holders at the Foundation will have access to donate online to #BrooklynGives from their funds. After November 12th, donors can give online via credit card only- if you are interested in making a grant recommendation from your Brooklyn Community Foundation Donor Advised Fund after November 12th, please contact Damaris Dias at email@example.com. #BrooklynGives 2019 will culminate on Giving Tuesday, December 3, 2019 with a 24-hour celebration from 12:00 am to 11:59 pm.
Q. Who can donate?
Anyone with a Donor Advised Fund at Brooklyn Community Foundation can donate to #BrooklynGives from their fund. If you do not have a at Brooklyn Community Foundation, you can give via credit card at www.BrooklynGives.org after November 12, 2019.
Q. How can I make a donation from my Donor Advised Fund?
If you have a Donor Advised Fund at Brooklyn Community Foundation, you can give through the #BrooklynGives link provided by the Foundation. If you did not receive this link, please Contact Damaris Dias at 718.480.7507 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Q. How much of my donation goes to the nonprofit?
100% of Donations through Donor Advised Funds at Brooklyn Community Foundation go to the nonprofit gift recipient.
Q. Who will receive my contact information? Can I make an anonymous donation from my Donor Advised Fund at Brooklyn Community Foundation?
You can allow the organization(s) you choose to support to have access to your name and email address. This information is used solely to send thank you messages, provide the option to receive future notifications, and to notify you of future activities.
However, you can also choose different levels of anonymity, by selecting the options “Please do not display a name publicly,” “Please do not display the donation amount publicly,” and/or “Hide my name from this organization and the public.” If you choose “Hide my name from this organization and the public,” the organization will not have access to the fund name and your donation will not appear on the BrooklynGives website.
Q. Do I need to create an account with GiveGab?
No. You do not need to create an account to make a donation.
Q. Can I make donations via a mobile device?
Yes! Simply visit through the #BrooklynGives link provided by the Foundation on your mobile device. If you did not receive this link, please Contact Damaris Dias at 718.480.7507 or email@example.com for more information.
Q. Can I donate to a Spark Prize Finalist?
Yes! General donations to Spark Prize Finalist organizations must be made on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 to be eligible for Brooklyn Community Foundation’s $5,000 match. However, if you are using your Donor Advised Fund to recommend a #BrooklynGives grant to a Spark Prize Finalist, your grant will be held and applied on December 3rd to ensure that it is eligible for the Brooklyn Community Foundation match.
