#BrooklynGives Guide for Donor Advised Funds at Brooklyn Community Foundation

Powered by Brooklyn Community Foundation,
#BrooklynGives unites donors and nonprofits across our borough in support of social change on the year’s biggest single day of giving! #BrooklynGives officially kicks off in early November with the goal of raising $1 million for local nonprofits by Tuesday, November 30, 2021 — known around the world as Giving Tuesday at BrooklynGives.org. As a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) holder at Brooklyn Community Foundation, it's easy to search, discover, and support local social change organizations on Giving Tuesday using your DAF. Use the step-by-step giving guide below and email donorservices@bcfny.org if you have further questions.

For Donations Above $250 Using Your DAF:

    1. Go to BrooklynGives.org to search for participating local nonprofits by name or cause.

    2. Learn about what they do and how you can help.

    3. Send grant recommendations to donorservices@bcfny.org by Friday, November 26th. Include the following in your email for each grant recommendation, and our team will process the grant on your behalf:
      - Name of participating nonprofit
      - Grant amount ($250 minimum)
      - Indicate if this is an unrestricted grant or for a special purpose
      - How you want to be recognized: The name of your fund will be used for the grant award letter and displayed on the #BrooklynGives website. If you would like to use your name or remain anonymous, please indicate your preference.

    4. Please give our grants processing team approximately 10 business days to process your grant recommendation. You can check your donor portal for the status of your grant.

    For Donations Below $250:

    4. Check out all of your donations at once with one credit card or ACH payment. You will receive an email with all of your donations acknowledged for tax purposes.
